13-Year-Old Girl Gang Raped In Odisha; 3 Minors Detained

Rayagada: Kalyansinghpur police in the district on Sunday detained three minor boys for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.

The boys, all below 15 year, reportedly kidnapped the minor girl by gagging her mouth and took her to a paddy field where they raped her in turn on the night of January 1. The girl was allegedly kidnapped when she was out of the house to attend nature's call.

Sources said that though the incident took place on Wednesday, the girl's family members were silent over the matter fearing public humiliation. However, they reported the matter at Kalyansinghpur police on Sunday only after they were convinced by some of their relatives.

"Based on the FIR filled by the girl's family members against the boys, we initiated an investigation and detained the accused. The accused and the survivor have been sent to the local hospital for a medical examination," informed Kalyansinghpur police station IIC, Sukuma Hansda.

"The boys will be produced before the Court of Judicial Magistrate tomorrow following which they will be sent to the juvenile reformation centre," she added.
