Bhubaneswar: Strengthening its healthcare infrastructures to battle novel-Coronavirus outbreak, Odisha government has readied two standalone Covid-19 hospitals with 625 bed capacity in the Twin Cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack in a record time of just one week.
These two exclusive hospitals are now ready to provide dedicated healthcare to Covid-19 patients. While the first hospital with 500 bed capacity has been set up at Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) in Bhubaneswar, the 2nd facility has been set up at Ashwini hospital in Cuttack with 125 bed capacity. Both the hospitals have been managed and funded by Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC).
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik thanked the management of KIIMs and Ashwini hospital for their cooperation and faster implementation of the projects.

The CM interacted with doctors and paramedics of the hospitals and appreciated their commitment in the fight against Coronavirus.
While expressing hope that now Covid 19 patients can be given better healthcare in these stand-alone hospitals, the CM also stressed that the battle against Coronavirus can be won by taking up safety measures like social distancing, hand washing and observing lockdown guidelines.
It may be noted that the government had earlier announced that two dedicated hospitals for Covid-19 will be set up at KIIMS and IMS-SUM hospital in Bhubaneswar having a capacity of 500-beds each.
Meanwhile, the State government on Wednesday announced that the Covid-19 facility at SUM hospital will be soon made operational.

The government had earlier announced free treatment along with free food and rent-free stay for all Covid-19 cases in these hospitals.
