Lucknow: The Lucknow hospital where Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor is being treated after having tested corona positive, has asked the singer 'to behave like a patient and not like a star'.

In an unusual statement issued by Professor R. K. Dhiman, Director of the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), he said, "Kanika Kapoor has been provided with the best that is possible in a hospital. She must co-operate as a patient and not throw tantrums of a star in Lucknow."

He added that Kanika Kapoor must cooperate with the hospital 'to help herself'.

The statement was released after the singer alleged that the room where she had been kept, was dusty and had mosquitoes.

"She is being provided Gluten-free diet from the hospital kitchen. The facility provided to her is an isolated room with a toilet, patient-bed, and a television. The ventilation of her room is air-conditioned with a separate Air Handling Unit (AHU) for the COVID-19 unit," the director said.

He further said, "Utmost care is being taken, but she must first start behaving as a patient and not a star."

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Health Minister Jai Pratap Singh and his family who attended the party where Kanika Kapoor was also present last week, have tested negative in the corona test.

Twenty-eight other guests who went into self-quarantine have also tested negative according to reports that came in on Saturday evening.

Meanwhile, the UP police have booked singer Kanika Kapoor for negligence and committing acts that are likely to spread disease dangerous to life after she attended at least three gatherings in Lucknow, including a party where political leaders were present, and tested positive for the new coronavirus, an official said.

The FIR was registered at Sarojini Nagar police station on Friday based on a complaint filed by the Lucknow chief medical officer, said Police Commissioner Surjit Pandey.

Pandey said Kapoor has been charged under IPC Sections 269 (negligent acts likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 270 (malignant acts likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant).

Kapoor is said to have visited at least three gatherings in different areas of Lucknow. She has become the first Bollywood celebrity to test positive for the deadly virus in the country and has said she is under complete quarantine and medical care.

As the matter spread like wildfire and people demanded action against her, Kanika took to Instagram and released a statement saying she’s under complete quarantine and medical care while clarifying that she developed signs of flu only in the last four days.

For the past four days, I have had signs of flu. I got myself tested and it came positive for Covid-19. My family and I are in complete quarantine now and following medical advice on how to move forward. Contact mapping of people I have been in touch with is underway as well. I was scanned at the airport as per normal procedure 10 days ago when I came back home, the symptoms have developed only four days ago. At this stage she would like to urge people to practice self isolation and get tested if one has the signs. I am feeling ok, like a normal flu and a mild fever, however we need to be sensible citizens at this time and think of all around us. We can get through this without panic only if we listen to the experts and our local, state and central government directives. Wishing everyone good health – Kanika said in her statement.
