Mumbai: The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex declined by over 97 points in opening trade today on continued selling by funds and retail investors, tracking a weak trend on other Asian bourses.

The 30-share Sensex, which lost 108.13 points in the previous session, fell by 97.45 points, or 0.58 per cent, to 16,615.88 in opening trade today.
