Mumbai: The Indian rupee rose by 5 paise to Rs 45.27 against the US dollar in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange today, supported by a better opening in the stock market, although dollar gains overseas restricted the appreciation of the domestic currency.

The rupee had gained 16 paise to close at Rs 45.32/33 against the US dollar in the previous session on Friday on dollar-selling by exporters amid a marginal recovery in local equities.
