He said the trade will be carried on four consecutive days each week begining Tuesday. "Earlier it was for only two days, now the trade between two sides will take place on four days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday," he said.
The cross-LoC trade, via Salamabad trade facilitation centre in Uri sector of Baramulla district, was otherwise conducted every Tuesday and Wednesday. The trade is based on the barter system and goods are exchanged for other goods.
Cross-LoC trade was one of the major Confidence Building Measures (CBM) between India and Pakistan launched in 2008. India and Pakistan in July this year announced additional CBMs related to Kashmir which included increasing cross-LoC trading days.
Meanwhile, the official said the Srinagar-Muzafarabad cross-LoC bus service has been rescheduled to Mondays. "The bus service has been rescheduled from Thursday to Monday," Bhat said.
