New Delhi: In a move that could encourage buyers of low cost houses, the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Monday said the one per cent interest subsidy will be available on home loans of up to Rs 15 lakh against the current level of Rs 10 lakh.

Announcing this in his Budget for 2011-12, Mukherjee also increased the value of houses eligible for availing the interest subsidy by Rs 5 lakh to Rs 25 lakh per unit.
