NATO multinational naval exercise concludes in Turkey
Ankara: The “East Mediterranean 2017” NATO naval exercise hosted by Turkey has ended, the media reported.
The 10-day exercise that ended on Thursday, was joined by the US, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania and Britain. It was held in Turkey’s Aksaz Naval Base, Xinhua reported citing Anadolu Agency.
Around 20 warships, frigates and submarines, planes and helicopters along with over 3,000 military personnel took part in the drill.
The training programmes, including air and sea defence operations, planning in crisis management and cooperation among teams, were aimed to improve teamwork at sea between the NATO allies.
It was the 20th NATO naval exercise since 1987, which first saw this year comprehensive training on disaster and emergency management.
