Kabul: Fourteen Taliban militants were killed in a series of operations launched by the Afghan security forces in Ghazni province, authorities said on Monday.

The operations were staged in turbulent Khawja Omari and Dih Yak districts on Sunday, Xinhua news agency reported.

Seven arms and weapons caches have also been destroyed, the government said in a statement.

It did not provide details about the possible casualties on the side of security forces.

The Afghan security forces have beefed up offensives on militants recently as the country is preparing to hold Presidential election on September 28.

The Taliban is yet to comment on the development.
