Cyclone Montha: Strong winds and continuous rainfall lash Kakinada ahead of landfall Photograph: (File)
Strong winds accompanied by loud roaring sounds have been sweeping through Kakinada Suryapeta Beach, with continuous drizzle reported since Monday night. The situation has intensified gradually as Cyclone Montha approaches the Andhra Pradesh coast. The wind speed is increasing steadily, while rainfall continues to grow heavier in the region.
As per reports, the strong winds have led to asbestos roofs being blown away in certain areas, while large trees were seen swaying violently under the impact. Officials have expressed concern that the forceful swinging could cause branches or entire trees to break as the cyclone gets closer. The local administration has, therefore, restricted public movement around the beach area to prevent any untoward incidents.
Authorities Monitor Situation Closely
Local officials are closely monitoring the developing weather conditions, and teams have been deployed near the Suryapeta Beach area to track both wind intensity and rainfall levels. The continuous downpour, which began on Monday night, has become heavier with each passing hour, indicating the advancing impact of Cyclone Montha over coastal Andhra Pradesh.
