The clip has warmed the hearts of animal lovers around the world.

The cat, named Sprout, was brought home in May 2025 by 29-year-old Carly Thomas, a pet and lifestyle content creator, when he weighed just 1.5 pounds as a kitten. By January 2026, the once-diminutive furball had ballooned to around 11 pounds, leaving her stunned at how dramatically he transformed in such a short time.

Sprout still looks irresistibly cute with his thick white coat and bright blue eyes, but Thomas says she often finds herself wondering whether she adopted a kitten or a small dog, given how large he’s become well before his first birthday on February 14.

“His first birthday isn’t until February 14th! Siberian cats are apparently slow to mature and don’t reach their full size until 3 years of age. Did I bring home a kitten or a dog?” she wrote in the caption that accompanied the viral post.

Of course, Sprout started out just as adorable as any tiny kitten. Thomas shared photos and clips that contrast his early small-and-scruffy look with his later, confident stretch on the couch as a much bigger cat - his growth and personality shift attracting millions of views online.

“He was such a cute little kitten… I just want to go back in time and squish the cuteness out of that little guy,” she added.

Siberian cats are a larger, long-haired breed originally from Russia, known for their affectionate nature and slow growth, often taking years to reach full adult size. Many viewers found Sprout’s evolution from tiny fluff ball to “chonky” cat both amusing and heartwarming, praising his owner’s documentation of every stage.
