Two cousins die in Himachal snowstorm, Pitbull endures cold for 4 days, stays by owner’s side

In a deeply emotional incident from Himachal Pradesh, a pit bull was found guarding the body of its deceased owner for more than four days in extreme cold, refusing to leave his side despite a severe snowstorm. The moving episode unfolded in the remote Chamba valley, highlighting an extraordinary bond between a man and his dog.

The incident occurred after Piyush and his cousin went missing while trekking in the Chamba region when a powerful snowstorm struck the area. Battling harsh weather and freezing temperatures, the two men waited for help that never arrived. By the time rescue teams reached the spot, both had succumbed to the extreme conditions.

Rescue personnel were left stunned when they discovered Piyush’s pit bull sitting beside his body. The dog is believed to have endured subzero temperatures for over four days, standing guard without food or shelter. So protective was the animal that it initially resisted attempts by rescuers to approach the body.

Rescue Operation

The body of Piyush’s cousin was later recovered from a nearby mountainside. Following the recovery, both bodies and the dog were airlifted from the treacherous terrain. A video from the rescue operation showed the dog being led to safety.
