In an age where social media celebrates bold career leaps and “following your passion,” a candid confession from a young professional has struck a chord online. A Bengaluru-based Gen Z youth, who earlier went viral for quitting his “boring” full-time job, has now shared an honest update, admitting regret as he struggles to navigate a harsh job market.
In a recent Instagram video, Aanshul Uthaiah (22) revealed that he quit his job without a backup plan, only to realise how difficult finding new opportunities can be.
“I quit my job with no plan and had my first interview after that. To be honest, I kinda regret my decision,” he said, adding that he underestimated how bad the job market really is.
Uthaiah went on to say he has been searching for work for a while but hasn’t found suitable openings, ending the video by asking viewers to DM him if they know of any job opportunities.
From Viral Confidence to Honest Doubt
The update comes days after Aanshul went viral for announcing that he would resign from his full-time role the very next day. In that earlier video, he had spoken openly about feeling stuck and unfulfilled, even turning down offers from Australian universities as he wasn’t interested in further studies. He had also acknowledged his parents’ disappointment.

While his decision sparked debate, his honesty won him support. Many praised his courage for publicly admitting regret, with users offering advice, encouragement, and hope. “Not to worry, something great is just around the corner,” one comment read.
A Lesson Many Can Relate To
From 10,000 followers to over 32,000 today, Aanshul’s journey reflects a reality many young professionals face balancing ambition with stability. His story serves as a reminder that while risks are part of growth, transparency and resilience often matter just as much.
