Teaching young children is never easy, but creative methods can turn lessons into lasting memories. A government school teacher from Andhra Pradesh has gone viral for proving just how engaging learning can be, while another classroom video from a different school has raised concerns about teaching quality. Together, the two clips have triggered widespread discussion on effective education practices.
In Andhra Pradesh, government school teacher Dharma has won hearts with his innovative way of teaching the days of the week. Moving away from traditional textbook methods, he uses a lively song combined with simple dance steps and gestures. Standing at the front of the classroom, Dharma leads a group of girls as they repeat his movements and words, turning learning into an enjoyable experience.
Each day is linked with an easy-to-remember action. Sunday is associated with the Sun, Monday with a hand on the heart, Tuesday with counting fingers, Wednesday with repetition, Thursday with acting thirsty, Friday with frying actions, and Saturday with sitting down. His energetic approach and cheerful personality have created a strong bond with his students. The video, shared on Instagram with the caption “Days of the week song,” has crossed 19 million views.
A Starkly Different Classroom Scene
In contrast, another video from a primary school in Kogwar shows a troubling teaching approach. An English teacher, Praveen Toppo, was seen writing incorrect spellings on the blackboard, which students copied without noticing the errors. Words like “Farday” and “Saterday” appeared during a lesson on weekdays, along with mistakes in body parts such as “noge,” “eare,” and “iey.”
A Lesson Beyond the Classroom
These two videos highlight how teaching methods can shape learning outcomes. While creativity can inspire young minds, inaccuracies can leave lasting consequences, underscoring the importance of quality education.
