Work, whether big or small, carries dignity. Yet, in today’s fast-paced environment, the desire for growth and variety isn’t limited to corporate offices alone. This reality played out humorously when a home cook decided to quit her job, citing a reason familiar to many professionals: lack of growth.
Mumbai-based content creator Swapnil Gore shared the incident on Instagram, narrating how his strict fitness routine unexpectedly led to his cook’s resignation. Swapnil, who follows a disciplined diet, eats the same meals daily, chicken, rice, and salad. He had made this clear from the beginning.
However, after preparing the same food for nearly two months, the cook expressed her dissatisfaction. She pointed out that she knew how to make a variety of dishes and wanted to cook parathas, curries, and other meals. Swapnil declined, explaining that his diet plan allowed no changes.
That refusal, he said, was the breaking point.
“I Feel Stuck in My Career”
According to Swapnil, the cook felt creatively restricted and professionally stagnant. The monotony, she explained, made her feel “stuck” with no scope for growth, echoing the exact sentiment many office-goers voice when leaving jobs. Soon after, she decided to move on.
Swapnil summed it up humorously in his caption: “My maid left because she felt stuck in her career.”
Internet Reacts With Amusement and Agreement
The video quickly crossed a million views, with users finding the situation both funny and relatable. While many laughed, others supported the cook’s decision, calling her reason valid and refreshingly honest.
Growth Matters Everywhere
Beyond the humor, the incident highlights a simple truth: the need for growth, variety, and fulfillment transcends job titles. Whether in a corporate cubicle or a home kitchen, feeling valued and challenged matters—and sometimes, even chicken and rice can limit career aspirations.
