Aastha Singh’s viral video: HDFC bank employee says incident misrepresented; watch

The HDFC Bank employee seen in a viral video has issued a clarification, stating that the incident has been misrepresented on social media and that she did not misbehave with any customer.

In a video message shared after the clip went viral, Aastha Singh, a Relationship Manager at an HDFC Bank branch in Kanpur, said the argument captured in the video was not with a bank customer, but with the husband of a female contract employee working at the branch.

According to Singh, the man questioned her about her caste and behaved inappropriately, which led to the heated exchange seen in the video. She stated that the confrontation escalated after she was provoked and challenged on personal grounds.

“I did not misbehave with any customer,” Singh said, adding that the dispute was being wrongly portrayed as an altercation between a bank official and a customer.

She further said that while she stands by her statement, some of her words could have been chosen better, and acknowledged that the situation could have been handled differently. However, she maintained that threats and insulting language cannot be tolerated.

Singh also said that she is being unfairly targeted due to selective clips circulating online and reiterated that the viral video does not reflect the full context of the incident.

The clarification came amid widespread circulation of the video on social media platforms, following which Singh said her side of the story had not been adequately represented.
