Several parts of Odisha have been witnessing foggy mornings as winter sets in the state. Vehicular movement is severely disrupted due to low visibility owing to dense fog conditions. After low pressure-induced rains, temperature has started to drop significantly at many places.
The regional centre of the India Meteorological department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in 4 districts of Odisha today. Going by the forecast, a yellow warning has been issued for Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Mayurbhanj where there are chances of thunderstorm.
As per IMD, under the influence of two fresh active western disturbances- from March 30 to April 2 and from April 2 to 4-, several parts of the country will experience widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, hailstorms and lightning mostly over the Western Himalayan region and adjoining plains of north, central and eastern India.
The IMD has predicted that a fresh disturbance will be active from today (March 23) and the effect will be visible in several parts of Odisha on March 25 and 26. Several parts of the State are likely to receive light to moderate showers.
An ‘Orange Warning’ for thunderstorm with lightning and hailstorm has also been issued for several districts for the next 24 hours.
