Various parts of Odisha have been experiencing incessant rainfall since Friday under the influence of a low-pressure. As per the predictions of the Regional centre of the India Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar, the low pressure area over coastal Odisha and its neighbourhood, now lies over Northwest Bay of Bengal off North Odisha-West Bengal coasts.

IMD scientist Umashankar Das on Monday said that though the intensity of rainfall will come down in the next 48 hours, there is possibility of heavy rainfall activities for a period of two days starting from August 17, 2022.

The well-marked low pressure area which concentrated over north-west Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha coast intensified into a depression on Sunday.
The low pressure system had formed over north Bay of Bengal on Saturday. As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), the system is likely to concentrate into a depression.
