Cyclone Jawad which crossed the Odisha coast on Sunday (Dec 5) evening, has moved towards West Bengal. Now, latest forecast suggests that Cold Wave conditions are likely to intensify.
The Bhubaneswar Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that the minimum temperature (night temperature) in the state is very likely to fall gradually by 3-4 degrees Celsius during next two days.
The MeT Centre informed that the well-marked low pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal Bangladesh coasts has weakened into a low pressure area over the same region.
As per IMD’s latest prediction for the next 24 hours, dry weather is most likely to prevail over most parts of the state. However, between Dec 8 and 9, there are chances of light to moderate rain or thundershowers occuring at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur.
The capital city Bhubaneswar is likely to witness generally cloudy sky and slight drizzles with maximum and minimum temperatures hovering between 27 and 18 degrees Celsius.
