The Deep Depression remnant of cyclonic storm `Jawad' over west-central Bay of Bengal is likely to move north-northeast wards, weaken further into a Depression and reach Odisha coast near Puri around Sunday noon. Subsequently, it is likely to continue to move north-northeastwards along Odisha coast towards West Bengal coast and weaken into a well-marked low pressure area during the subsequent 12 hours.
When the system turns into a depression, the maximum sustained surface wind speed would be around 40-50 kmph gusting up to 60kmph. It would further decrease to 30-40kmph gusting up to 50 kmph over northwest Bay of Bengal by Sunday night.
As per the forecast of IMD, light to moderate rainfall at many places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely over Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal. Similarly, heavy rainfall would lash isolated places over south Assam and Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura.
Bhubaneswar and Cuttack city area would witness generally cloudy sky with a few intense spells of rain and strong gusty surface wind. In view of the forecast, the MeT Centre has issued an orange warning for the twin city for the day. IMD has also sounded an orange warning for heavy to very heavy rain in 5 districts namely- Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur.
Further, a yellow warning has been issued for Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jajpur, Khordha and Puri. These districts are likely to experience heavy showers till Monday.
Under the influence of Jawad, several parts of Odisha experienced heavy rainfall activities. At 158mm, Khallikote area in Ganjam district recorded highest rainfall during the period, followed by Nayagarh (107.5mm), Chhatrapur (86.6mm), Gopalpur 60 mm, Paradip 46mm, and Bhubaneswar (42.3mm).

The Severe Cyclonic Storm Michaung weakened into a deep depression on Tuesday night as it made its way through north Andhra Pradesh to Southern Odisha.
