Under the influence of westerly winds from Arabian Sea over the south peninsular India in lower tropospheric levels, widespread light/moderate rainfall with thunderstorm/ lightning is very likely over Kerala, Mahe, and Lakshadweep Islands.
As per a bulletin issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre of the IMD, Bhubaneswar, thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Deogarh.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted that rain and thunderstorm activities will prevail in several parts of the State till June 1.
IMD had earlier predicted that this year the southwest monsoon would hit the Kerala coast by May 27.
