It was a normal day with nothing new. But very little did this Software Engineer from Odisha know he will get appreciated by PM Narendra Modi for his work. Ashris Choudhury created the sound of money that made many to sit up and take notice.
To achieve that feat, he took the data on money transacted through UPI since 2016 and used data sonification to generate music from it. And this is what he has come up with. A resident of Jharsuguda in Odisha, Ashris graduated from IIT Kharagpur.
He is a software engineer and has launched a side-project called India in Pixels, which aims to capture different aspects and sides of India through data visualisation. And this sound of money project was one such attempt to show the growth and adoption of UPI from October 2016 till March 2022. And PM Narendra Modi called it interesting, impressive and informative!
Through his project ‘India in Pixels,’ Ashris has set out on a journey to paint pictures with data of India’s rich history, culture & diversity and take it to more and more people.
