Tokyo 2020: Indian Olympian Hockey Player Salima Tete’s Family Wishes Her Luck, Prays For Gold In Olympics
When on Monday Indian women’s hockey team stunned their opponents with a nail-biting finish in the QFs, the whole country erupted with joy. Badkichapara, a small village in Simdega district of Jharkhand, had double reasons to rejoice. India went to the Olympic semis for the 1st time, and their daughter was a part. Olympian Salima Tete hails from this village. Since Sunday (August 1), the village had no power supply owing to incessant rain over the last few days.
However, Salima's family members and neighbours pooled in resources and arranged a generator set to watch the Indian women’s hockey team play against Australia in Tokyo. The whole of Simdega jumped in joy, as India women's hockey team sailed into the semi-finals of the Olympics. Happiness knew no bounds for Salima’s father Sulakshan Tete. An emotional Sulakshan expressed that his daughter has made the entire village and country proud.
