From January 2023, no one, including servitors and other officials, will be allowed to carry smartphones into Puri Jagannath Temple.

On holy Mahashivratri today, thousands of devotees have congregated at Shiva Peeths for darshan of Lord. Sand maestro Sudarsan Pattnaik created a huge sculpture of Mahadev on Puri beach to pay obeisance. 500 Shiva Lingas have been installed to create this spectacular sand sculpture.
Bowing to the increasing demands from all quarters, the district administration of Puri on Monday reopened the western gate or Paschima Dwara of Lord Jagannath Temple in the pilgrim town. Local residents of Puri are being allowed to enter the 12th century shrine complex through special barricade installed at the gate by producing their identity cards.
One more gate of Puri Jagannath Temple will reopen from July 24. The Paschim Dwara of the 12th century shrine will be opened for residents of Puri. Sub Collector of Puri, Bhabatarana Sahoo informed about the development saying that residents of Puri can enter the shrine by showing their identity proof.
