Amid the much-awaited trial run of Vande Bharat Express from Howrah-Puri on Friday, Odisha government has requested the Center to run the train in two more routes in the State. Apart from Howrah-Puri, the other two routes are Puri-Rourkela and Bhubaneswar- Hyderabad.

The Odisha police also warned that severe legal action will be initiated against those found trying to create communal disharmony by spreading any rumor.
The Balasore train accident, where two passenger trains and a goods carriage were involved, claimed 275 lives so far and left over 1,000 people injured.
Member of Operation and Business Development, Railway Board, Jaya Varma Sinha said that preliminary findings suggest that there have been some issues with the signalling. A detailed report from the Commissioner of Railway Safety is awaited.
