This celebration in Nayagarh not only reinforces local faith but also mirrors the grandeur of nationally celebrated religious traditions, making it a major spiritual hub during the Navratri festivities.

“Amidst natural surroundings and inside a 180-foot cave in the hills, Navratri celebrations are going on at the shrine of Maa Vaishno Devi. The Jamukona hill is reverberating with devotion. Located in the Saradhapur locality of Nayagarh district, the Jamukana hill is glowing with beautiful gateways and attractive lighting decorations,” some locals said.

“An 18-quintal (1800 kg) brass idol of Maa Vaishno Devi is the centre of attraction. Just like in Jammu & Kashmir, the Navratri festival is being celebrated here with grandeur. Starting from September 22, the festival will continue till October 2. During this time, the shrine of the Goddess is witnessing a huge crowd of devotees,” the locals stated.

For all nine days, various rituals and worship ceremonies are being held. On October 1 and 2, Dandiya dance programs will be organised for everyone. The entire atmosphere is vibrating with spiritual energy. Keeping in view the large number of devotees, the temple trust has made extensive arrangements.
