Kartik Habisyalis Stage Protest In Puri For Accommodation, District Collector Reaches For Discussion
‘We will die here but we won’t go back home’!
Scores of non-registered habisyalis staged a protest in front of Brundabati Niwas in pilgrim town Puri after they were allegedly denied entry into the premises of the building.
Vehicular movement on the route was affected as the habisyalis staged a sit-in protest on the road demanding entry to the building.
According to sources, the agitating habisyalis also locked the main gate of Brundabati Niwas demanding free accommodation in the building, which is being provided by the Odisha government.
On the other hand, Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan said the State government has taken a plethora of measures for the habisyali visiting Puri. Had they registered, it would have been better.
Puri district collector Siddharth Shankar Swain later held a discussion with the agitating Habisyalis to resolve their issues.
