Durga Puja 2025: Traffic advisory issued for Bhubaneswar; check details

To ensure public safety during Durga Puja, Commissionerate Police–Bhubaneswar has issued a traffic advisory restricting heavy vehicle movement from September 27 to October 2, between 2 PM and 2 AM. Multiple diversions are planned to ease the traffic jam.

Traffic restrictions were announced on Thursday by Commissionerate Police-Bhubaneswar to ensure smooth movement for public in the State Capital during Dussehra festivities this year. The advisory would remain in force w.e.f September 27 up to October 2 from 2.00 PM to 2.00 AM for the convenience and safety of general public.

As per the traffic advisory, no heavy vehicles will be allowed to ply on the following roads on the date and time mentioned above:

1.    Rasulgarh crossing to Lingipur crossing and vice versa via Bomikhal, Laxmisagar, Kalpana, Ravi Talkies and Samantarapur crossing.

2.    Vani vihar crossing to Sishu Bhawan crossing and vice-versa via Rupali, Sataya Nagar, Ram Mandir, Master Canteen and Rajmahal crossing.

3.    Acharya Vihar crossing to Kalinga Hospital crossing and vice versa via Sainik School crossing.

4.    Acharya Vihar crossing to New Airport crossing and vice-versa via Nicco Park, Patel Marg, Housing Board, Rabindra Mandap and AG crossing.

5.    Jayadev Vihar to Nadankanan and vice-versa via Xavier Square, Kalinga Hospital, Damana and Patia crossing.

6.    Jayadev Vihar crossing to Raj Bhawan crossing and vice versa via Behera sahi and Sastri Nagar crossing.

7.    CRP crossing to Power House crossing and vice versa via Stewart School and Unit-8 DAV School crossing.

8.    Fire Services Training School crossing to Sishu Bhawan crossing and vice-versa via Paika Nagar, Siripur and Ganganagar crossing.

9.    Khandagiri crossing to Pokhariput crossing and vice versa via Jagamara and Gandamunda crossing.

10.    Both side service roads of NH-16 from Baramunda to Palasuni.

11.    Heavy goods vehicles coming from Khurda side towards Cuttack side are not allowed to ply from Pitapalli Square. Those vehicles will be diverted from Pitapalli Square towards Balikuda Square via Chandaka Square and Baranga Square.

Similarly, heavy goods vehicles coming from Cuttack side towards Khurda side will be diverted at Balikuda Square towards Pitapalli Square via Chandaka Square and Baranga Square. Taking into consideration of the volume of traffic and the number of devotees, entry of heavy vehicles will be restricted from Pitapalli Square and from Birupa Bridge as and when required.

12.    During Ravan Podi at Nayapalli, the entire vehicular traffic coming on NH-16 from Cuttack side shall be diverted from Jayadev Vihar to CRP Square or Fire Station Square via Behera Sahi, Sastri Nagar, Power House and Unit-8 DAV crossing. Similarly, vehicular traffic will also be diverted from CRP Square towards Jaydev Vihar via Ekamra Kanana road and Biju Pattnaik College road.

For the public convenience and safety, the following restrictions are imposed on plying of passenger buses to and fro from Bhubaneswar on the above-mentioned days.

a) Buses coming from Puri side towards Baramunda Bus Stand will not be allowed to ply inside the city and those vehicles will be diverted at Lingipur Square towards Hi-Tech Square via. Keshura Square and Pandara Square. Similarly, the buses coming from Baramunda towards Puri will avail the same route from Baramunda to Puri via Hi-Tech Square.

b) Buses coming from Puri side towards Cuttack side will avail the Bypass on NH from Lingipur to Hi-Tech Chhak via Kesura Square and Pandara Square. Similarly, buses from Cuttack side towards Puri will avail the same route from Hi-Tech Square to Lingipur.

c) All the buses (Govt. / Private) plying from Master Canteen Bus Stand will not be allowed to proceed towards Vani Vihar Square as well as Ravi Talkies Square. Those vehicles will be diverted towards Acharya Vihar Square via Ram Mandir Square and Housing Board Square (only when the restriction is not in effect). d) Buses coming to Lingaraj Mandir during morning hours will not be allowed to proceed towards Kalpana Sishu Bhawan side. Instead, they will be diverted towards Lingipur via Garage Chowk / Samantrapur Chowk.

Notably, the above regulations shall not apply to police, fire brigade, excise, ambulance and any other emergency vehicles. The Twin City Commissionerate Police has requested the general public to plan their routes accordingly.
