The Passenger Reservation System (PRS) of the Railways has been shut down for 6 hours on a daily basis till November 21st. This shut down is being carried out from November 14th during the lean business hours. This step is an effort to normalise passenger services and revert back to pre-covid times in a phased manner, informed the Indian Railways.
This will enable update of huge amount of past (old train numbers) and current passenger booking data of Mail/ Express trains. This activity started from the intervening night of 14 and 15-Nov and will continue for seven days till the night of 20 and 21-Nov. The reservation will remain closed from 11.30 PM night to 5:30 AM of the next morning.
This process was implemented during night hours in order to minimize impact on ticketing services. During these six hours, no Passenger Reservation System (PRS) services like ticket reservation, current booking, cancellation, enquiry services among others will be available.
