Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday announced that the government would be withdrawing the farm laws which the farmers had been protesting against for more than a year now. The decision was welcomed by the Odisha Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President, Naveen Patnaik.
Taking to Twitter, Patnaik stated that the decision to repeal all 3 farm laws is in the best interests of the country and its farmers. BJD continues to stand with the farmers, he stated. On the other hand, the Congress said that it had fought for the repeal of the 3 farm laws. Congress party’s Odisha in-charge, A Chhellakumar, stated that the party was not in favour of the laws and had objected them since the beginning and today it succeeded.
Inaugurating the Khashaba Jadhav Sports Complex spread over 27 acres in the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) campus, he also said that traditional games of India, like mallakhamb, will be taken to the international level in future.
The DGCA had on May 9 formed a three-member team to investigate the incident.
