Tensions Erupted In Odisha’s Dhinkia Over Alleged Police Excesses

This is Dhinkia Panchayat of Jagatsinghpur which turned into a battleground. A violent clash broke out between police and villagers during the ongoing protest against a proposed steel plant by Jindal Steel Works Limited.

The villagers went up in arms alleging police excesses during their ongoing protest. The villagers alleged that the police thrashed some of the villagers who protested the land demarcation process for the project. The villagers claimed that the police also picked up the person who led the protest and some of his family members.

Irate over police action, villagers allegedly hurled stones at the police resulting in a violent face-off.
