The sensational Tapaswini-Sumit marital dispute case in Berhampur witnessed yet another twist on Tuesday (Dec 21). The district administration has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 in Brahma Nagar for an indefinite period. The decision was reportedly taken after tension erupted near Sumit’s house following Court hearing on Monday (Dec 20).
Monday evening, several women claiming to be supporters of Tapaswini Dash attempted to storm inside Sumit’s house after breaking open the main gate. Hundreds of women from various places in Berhampur had gathered in support of Tapaswini who had been staging a dharna in front of Sumit’s house for close to a month now.
The women protestors forcefully broke through the main gate and were successful in shifting Tapaswini from outside Sumit’s house to the verandah area. However, they were stopped by the police force from breaking open the door of the house. Reports suggest that the Additional SP had also reached the spot on Monday evening to pacify the agitating women and prevent the situation from escalating.
As per latest reports, massive police force has been deployed near Sumit’s house to prevent law and order problem. On Monday, the SDJM Court again asked Sumit to take a rented accommodation and stay with Tapaswini. Citing that Sumit is untraceable, Tapaswini’s lawyer expressed their dissatisfaction with the court’s decision.
