With the festive season round the corner, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a fresh set of guidelines for celebration of Durga Puja under its jurisdiction, from October 11 to October 15, 2021.

With the festive season round the corner, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a fresh set of guidelines for celebration of Durga Puja under its jurisdiction, from October 11 to October 15, 2021.

As per the notification issued by BMC on Thursday (Sept 23), congregation for celebration of the festival including associated religious and cultural congregation shall not be allowed in public.

The Puja committees/organizers can conduct the festivities but will have to abide by all COVID-19 protocols for which they have to obtain permission from the Officer duly authorized by the Commissioner of Police. The notification further informed that the puja has to be conducted in indoor-like condition only for observance of rituals without any public participation, pomp and grandeur.

The idol size has been capped at four feet. No public address system or immersion ceremony by organisers is allowed during the entire period. No musical entertainment, religious procession, or entertainment programme is allowed to be conducted while only people who are vaccinated will be allowed to partake in the festivities.
