Black Shirt Paranoia
The security and police officials on Friday (Nov 26) forced a Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) beneficiary in Balasore to change his black shirt before appearing in front of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to collect his health card.
Reports said that beneficiaries wearing black shirts were stopped by the police personnel on their way to the event.
According to the intercepted person, since his name was in the list of beneficiaries, he was forced to buy a white shirt and wear the same to be able to collect his health (BSKY) card.
This incident comes amidst various black flag protests being staged against the state govt in connection with the sensational Bolangir lady teacher murder case.
Meanwhile, fearing protests ahead of CM’s visit, the police imposed an unannounced curfew in the area disrupting everyday routine of the local people. Many parents were reportedly unable to drop their wards to schools or move freely in the area.
The imposed curfew and security was tightened to the extent that all the shops in the vicinity were also shut down till the end of the event.
