2 Dead After Massive Fire Breaks Out At Packaging Unit In Surat

At least two persons were killed and several others sustained injuries after a massive fire broke out at a packaging factory in Vareli in Kadodara industrial area of Surat this morning. During the fire fighting operation, around 125 people were safely rescued from the packaging unit.

As per latest reports, the rescue operation has concluded. Police sources said two persons have died and 125 people were rescued in the fire incident. The mishap took place at around 4:30AM this morning when a blaze erupted on the first floor of the factory over a suspected electric short circuit.

The blaze soon spread to other floors, leaving many workers trapped inside the building. While over 10 fire tenders were pressed into action to douse the blaze, hydraulic cranes were reportedly used to rescue the trapped workers.
