On the occasion of 11th day ritual (Ekadasha) of Arindam Das, the Odisha Television Limited (OTV) on Monday announced a scholarship after him as a tribute to the ‘brave’ journalist who lost his life in the line of duty.
Jagi Mangat Panda, the Managing Director of OTV, made this scholarship announcement at a memorial meeting organised at the office premises of the media house. The scholarship will be awarded to one student every year to pursue journalism.
Addressing the memorial meeting, Jagi Mangat said that Arindam is a ‘brave hero’ and his dedication to work over the last decade will inspire the next generation of journalists.
All the staff of OTV paid tributes to the fearless journalist in the memorial meet. Previously, OTV had announced a compensation of Rs 20 lakh for kin of Das.
Arindam died in a tragic accident while covering the rescue operation of a tusker, along with an ODRAF team, at Mundali barrage in Cuttack on September 24.
