Switzerland has legalized a coffin shaped-like ‘suicide machine’, named Sarco - which allows users to kill themselves ‘peacefully and painlessly’ by inducing hypoxia and hypocapnia reportedly in less than a minute. The machine is specifically designed to allow an individual to die quickly with minimal pain and this is only in countries where voluntary euthanasia or assisted suicide is legal.
The machine was created by Dr Philip Nitschke also known as ‘Dr Death’, the director of the non-profit organisation Exit International. According to Exit International report, around 1300 people died by 'assisted suicide' last year in Switzerland. The legalization of ‘Sarco’ has however sparked a row among many as they claim this machine glorifies suicide.
