Draped in traditional yellow cloths, holding peacock feathers in hands and carrying red/yellow flags, these are Danduas or Bhokatas who are participants of Danda Jatra, one of the most famous traditional festivals of Ganjam district in Odisha. It is that time of the year when these Danduas visit one village to the other to perform certain rituals. In spite of the scorching heat, the Danduas dedicatedly perform Danda for personal wishes and wellbeing of all. The festive fervor and traditional joy echoes all around.
