Akshaya Tritiya is one of the most auspicious festivals celebrated by Hindus. It literally translates to the third day of the bright fortnight of Vaishakha that brings eternal abundance to the devotees. With the essence of new beginning, ventures or investments, people are celebrating the festival today. And traditionally, people are purchasing gold to attract prosperity and good fortune. However, with recent skyrocketing gold prices, here are five other auspicious items one can consider purchasing on this day to attract good fortune: 1. SHRI YANTRAM: The yantram is regarded as effective method of attracting money, prosperity and abundance into one’s life. One can worship it as per the rituals and then place it in wallet. This will also maintain happiness and prosperity in one’s home. 2. LAXMI IDOL MADE OF MERCURY: Maa Laxmi is the Goddess of riches and affluence and as per the sacred values, mercury acts as the messenger of the gods. Thus, if one installs idol of Goddess Laxmi made of mercury in the worship place of the house, it is believed to be beneficial for getting wealth, riches, affluence and prosperity. 3. SRI LAXMI SHANKHA: This sacred Hindu Conch mostly has five plaits or folds in its cavity. It is believed to have astrological remedies. After worshiping, it is advised to wrap this conch on red cloth and keep in safe to gain prosperity. 4. FOOTPRINTS OF GODDESS LAXMI: Install a footprint of Goddess Lakshmi that is made up of silver. Mostly the footprints are faced towards the interior of the house and should be directed inside the house. It is said that by installing this, blessings of goddess Laxmi will always remain upon the devotees. 5. ONE-EYED COCONUT: Yes a coconut. The owner of one-eyed is believed to have divine guidance, intuition and spiritual growth. It is also used in rituals to attract abundance, success and blessings into one’s life. So buying a one-eyed coconut can also bring prosperity as much as gold on Akshaya Tritiya.
