It seems to be good news for the employees of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as the company is reportedly ready to scrap 'work from office.' In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic had forced the companies to adopt new ways of working. And, when India announced its coronavirus lockdown in March last year, one of India's largest software companies, TCS, sent thousands of employees to work from home almost overnight.
When the pandemic arrived, the IT firm had to shift its 96% staff to remote working. And, the main challenge for the company was to ship the essential equipment for employees. Speaking to a financial news website (CNN Business), N. Ganapathy Subramaniam, the Chief Operating Officer of TCS, said that the first and foremost thing was working with the government to allow the company to run trucks so that they will be able to move things to the employees. Subramaniam also said that the IT firm believes it can boost productivity by 25% by embracing more remote work. Subramaniam also said that many TCS employees feel that they have found a solution to their work-life balance.
And, when employees are happy, naturally, productivity will grow, he added. The IT giant that employs over 500,000 people worldwide also predicts that the majority of its workforce will work remotely by 2025.
