Mamata Banerjee has got married to Socialism.
Surprised? Shocked? What's your initial reaction?
Well, this might sound bizarre, but such a wedding actually took place in Tamil Nadu’s Salem district. The news of Mamata Banerjee wedding has sent social media into a tizzy. The bride, P Mamata Banerjee and the groom named Socialism tied the knot on Sunday (June 13).
Keeping with the COVID-19 protocols, Mamata and Socialism got married at a low-key function in Tamil Nadu's Salem district, which was attended by only a few family members. State CPI secretary R Mutharasan also graced the wedding ceremony. As per reports, Socialism is the son of Salem district's CPI secretary A Mohan. And Mamata Banerjee’s family members idolize Congress leaders. Wondering how all of them got such unique names? As a tribute to the erstwhile Soviet Union, groom Socialism's father who is a CPI leader has named his other two brothers as Leninism and Communism.
Almost going by a similar logic, bride Mamata Banerjee's family were Congress loyalists and hence on having a girl child about 20 years back, her grandfather named her after the firebrand Trinamool Congress leader when she was with the Congress. This had become the talk of the town ever since the news of their marriage has gone viral on social media. Even though they are divided by political ideology, the families of the bride and groom share a close relationship with each other. That one reason was enough for them to go ahead with the beautiful ceremony.
