These children of daily wage worker have created magic with their skating skills on International platforms. Hailing from Janwar village in Panna District of Madhya Pradesh, these young kids have amazing skating abilities.
Janwar village, located in the fringes of the Panna National Tiger Reserve is popularly known for these ‘Skate Birds’. Janwar village may not have a proper road but does have a skating park where everyday these young skating champs showcase their skills before the local residents.
A German woman visited Janwar and established skate park in 2015.Many foreigners trained the children here for skateboarding. Witnessing these young talents showcase their skating skills is truly a sight to behold. Despite their awe-inspiring ‘flips’ and ‘nose grinds’ these kids have faced their share of challenges in continuing with this sport.
One of such skating player Shanti from the village says, with financial support from government, they would be able to perform better at the sports. On the other hand, the parents of girl children in the village, who initially were hesitant to allow their daughters to travel abroad for performing their skills, later gave in to the dreams of their young daughters.
One of such parent is Kamla who is the mother of skating player Asha from the village. Kamla narrates her fear of allowing her daughter to travel abroad and how she overcame the challenge.
Financial difficulties couldn’t deter these young kids from flying high with their skates and performing their skills in places which is a mere dream for other kids from the village. However, these children have also requested financial aid from the government for moving ahead in their skating career.
