In a blow to actress Varsha Priyadarshini, the family court in Cuttack rejected a plea filed by Varsha to quash the divorce petition filed by her actor-politician husband Anubhav Mohanty, without hearing on Tuesday (August 31).
As per reports, the plea was filed by Varsha's advocate citing factual errors in Anubhav's divorce petition. However, the court rejected the plea stating that the petition has enough facts and details to conduct a thorough trial. The court informed that the petition cannot be squashed in the initial phase itself.
Meanwhile, the next hearing on the divorce petition was scheduled for September 14, 2021. Earlier on August 26, the Court had squashed Anubhav's plea to expedite the divorce hearing and had instead suggested him to make an application at a lower or the family court.
It pertinent to mention here that earlier, Anubhav had accused Varsha of intentionally holding up the Court's proceedings after she had failed to show up at the Mediation Centre. While on the other hand, Varsha's lawyer, had accused Anubhav of not following the due process of law.
