Two Jawans Injured In Gunfight With Maoists In Odisha
As many as 2 jawans were critically injured during an exchange of fire with Maoists in Uma forest near Boudh-Kandhamal border in Odisha on Saturday (July 10). The injured jawans were airlifted to Bhubaneswar AIIMS for treatment. Sources said that two Special Operations Group (SOG) jawans were injured during the operation which was launched under Gochapada Police Station (PS) of Kandhamal district on Friday (July 9).
During the combing operation of a core area, Maoists opened indiscriminate fire on the security forces on Saturday morning. As per reports, both the injured were brought from the operational area to safety with the help of the CRPF.
Fortunately, Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) who was on a visit to the Malkangiri & Koraput districts directed his helicopter to be used to airlift the injured to Bhubaneswar-AIIMS. The DGP, who was on a tour to Malkangiri and Koraput Districts to review anti-Naxal operations with other senior police officials, changed his program and redirected his helicopter to land in Padelpada in Boudh District.
Some Naxals were also injured during the firing while the operation has been intensified in the area.
