The baby was born at Phulbani District Headquarters Hospital in Kandhamal district. As per reports, the baby girl has been named ‘Subhadra’ by the hospital authorities, and the name was readily accepted by the family.

Twins Jaga and Balia from Melupada village in Kandhamal were suffering from ‘Craniopagus Parasiticus,’ a rare congenital disorder. On account of the disorder they were both joined at the head since birth. The two were later separated at AIIMS, New Delhi on October 2017 after an 11-hour surgery. Jaga & Balia became the first conjoined twins to be separated successfully.
