In what could be a major relief for the disheartened candidates of JEE Mains, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday (July 24) announced to provide a second chance to the candidates unable to reach test centres in heavy rain and landslide affected areas of Maharashtra.
The minister has confirmed that these candidates will get another chance to appear for the engineering entrance exam. Taking to Twitter, Pradhan said that in order to assist the Maharashtra student community, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has been advised to grant another opportunity to all candidates who may not be able to reach the test centre for JEE (Main)-2021 Session 3.
The union minister has advised students from Kolhapur, Palghar, Ratnagiri, Raigadh, Sindhudurg, Sangli and Satara not to panic. He has clarified that they will be given another opportunity, and the dates will be announced soon by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
As on Saturday, at least 76 people have died, 38 were injured while 59 others are missing after several areas in Maharashtra were hit by floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains.
