The Lord Jagannath Temple reopened today (Aug 23) for all devotees including people from outside Puri after a gap of 4 months.
The darshan of the Holy trinity was barred at the 12th-century shrine since April 24 this year, after the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic hit Odisha. The temple was also closed for public during Ratha Jatra.
However, due to the decline in Covid-19 cases, the temple administration decided to reopen the shrine in a phased manner while adhering to Covid-19 protocols. The temple will be open for darshan from 7 AM to 7 PM on all days, except Saturdays and Sundays.
Additionally, the temple will remain closed on all major festivals, so as to avoid any major congregation in the temple.
