Police Detain Web Channel Editor After Olympian Dutee Chand’s Defamation Allegations

The Commissionerate Police on Friday (September 3) detained a web channel editor against whom Olympian Dutee Chand has filed a defamation and harassment complaint at the Mahila police station. Sudhanshu Rout, the editor of the concerned web channel was picked up from his office in Jharpara, Bhubaneswar this afternoon.

This comes a day after Dutee while addressing a press meet levelled allegations against Rout and another reporter of the web channel Smruti Ranjan of defaming her. Dutee had alleged that both of them had been negotiating money and blackmailing her, which forced her to take the help of the law.

Acting on Dutee’s complaint, the Mahila police conducted a search at the office of web channel editor today. Following this, the editor was picked up by police and has been detained. Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Das said that the matter is currently under investigation.
