In a shocking incident, a woman was allegedly kept under house arrest by residents of Chemachata village under Kuldiha wildlife sanctuary in Balasore, over suspicions of practicing black magic.
As per reports, the woman identified as Tulasi Nayak of the village was allegedly kept under captivity after the death of a one-year-old girl child in the village, some days ago.
The villagers suspected the woman of practicing witchcraft, after the girl died under mysterious circumstances.
Later, the woman was kept under house arrest for over 7 days. Sources said that the villagers had planned to kill the woman on the tenth day ritual of the girl's death.
However, after receiving information, Nilagiri Police rescued the woman and sent her to a shelter home in Udala under Mayurbhanj district.
