Citing that the Southwest Monsoon has been subdued in Odisha, the India Meteorological Centre (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall and thundershowers in the next couple of days.

Citing that the Southwest Monsoon has been subdued in Odisha, the India Meteorological Centre (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall and thundershowers in the next couple of days. Moreover, the Met office has also predicted that a low pressure area is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood around July 23rd. As per the latest forecast valid till July 20th morning, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha. Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts, for which the Met office has issued a yellow warning. During this period, thunderstorm with lightning activity is likely to be witnessed at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri. In the subsequent 24 hours, yellow warning has been issued on account of expected heavy rainfall over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur. Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning is expected at one or two places over several districts during the period.
